With the Target table tennis rubber series, the French manufacturer Cornilleau has succeeded in having the right answer for every level of play. With the introduction of the plastic ball, however, the expectations of players in terms of spin and speed have changed again. For this reason, Cornilleau has developed a new series of rubbers together with the tire manufacturer Michelin, which harmonize optimally in combination with the plastic ball.
If you compare the sponge of the Pro XD 47.5° with the sponge of the Target Pro GT-H47, there is almost no visual difference. However, the developers have optimized both the sponge and the topsheet for the plastic ball and improved them in some areas:
- the sponge is even more dynamic than in the previous Target rubber series
- the top sheet is noticeably more spinny and develops enormous rotation even with the plastic ball
- the durability has been increased as well
The Target XD 47.5 ° plays very well despite the relatively hard sponge and creates a good touch. When returning the serve, the compact and hard sponge impresses with a good feeling in the short-short game. Thanks to the slightly lower catapult with slowly played balls, serves are also very short and with a lot of rotation.
Modern offensive players who build up their game with a lot of rotation and also like to play from half distance are exactly right with the Target Pro XD 47.5°. The French top player Can Akkuzu has also decided for the XD series and plays the 47.5° variant in black max on the backhand side.
